in the structural geology laboratory includes:

research microscope with digital photography and Image-Pro Plus
image analysis software

research microscopes set up for semi-automated point counting and
photomicrography
- Leitz
microscope and Universal Stage for textural (fabric) studies
- Technosyn
cold-cathode luminoscope set up on Olympus microscope.
- Indus
Petroscope for macroscopic study of thin-sections
- Numonics
map-scale digitizer interfaced with IBM-PC computer
- IBM-PC
based large format image analysis system using Jandel JAVA software.
- MAC
and IBM-PC computers with various structural geology and graphics
software.
- Drafting
tables, light table etc.

The
department also has a rock-cutting room for the use of graduate
students, and a thin-section technician
who helps in the preparation of rock samples "in-house".
