Arctic Expedition '96

The Paleomagnetic Research Group of the University of Rochester ran an expedition to the High Canadian Arctic from June 23 to August 5, 1996.  You could always visit the official site, read all about the research goals and such, but, heck, that page is so cerebral I get brain freeze just thinking about it.  Check out this student's perspective of the trip, with pictures and an editted edition of my field journal....

With many pardons to Bill Watterson:

We're going to where it snows all year,
Where life can have real meaning.
A place where we won't have to hear,
"Your room could stand some cleaning."
....
Oh, what a life! We cannot wait
To be in that arctic land,
Where we'll be masters of our fate
And lead a life that's grand!

No more parental rules!
We're heading for some snow!
Good riddance to those grown-up ghouls!
We're leaving!
Yukon Ho!
