Meliora 2002: A special invitation to graduates of the environmental programs
The
UR has started a `new' tradition, the Meliora Event on the second weekend
in October, to be held this year on 11-13 October. We will contribute to
this event by highlighting the tenth anniversary of the Environmental Programs
(EVS and ESP) at the UR. Our program will consist of two parts, a morning
event (10/12, 9:00-10:30), where we will hear from alumni about their experiences
and will discuss the future of the environmental field here and abroad.
Four alumni will describe their experiences, Larry Lundgren will speak
about the situation in Europe and we will have time to discuss the future
and get updates from other alumni and students. At 11:45, this program
will be followed by a lecture given by Sherwood Rowland, who helped usher
in our programs with a talk at the Environmental Student Conference held
Oct. 1992 and subsequently received the Nobel Prize for his pioneering
work on ozone depletion. The specifics of the two programs are listed below,
general information about Meliora 2002 can be found on the website
http://www.rochester.edu/alumni/meliora2002/index.html
or in the brochure sent to you. We will update the alumni website with
responses from you, but you can also send questions or comments directly
to fehn@earth.rochester.edu.
I think that this is a special opportunity for all alumni to meet with
friends from the past and to exchange experiences and ideas with other
alumni, students, and faculty. Please sign up for the `Alumni Environmental
Forum' and for `Leadership and the Environment' to celebrate in style the
tenth anniversary of our programs during the upcoming Meliora Weekend!
